It is commonly observed in athletes participating in <a href=\"https:\/\/orthorehab.gr\/el\/nea\/item\/%ce%ba%ce%bf%ce%bb%cf%8d%ce%bc%ce%b2%ce%b7%cf%83%ce%b7-%cf%84%ce%bf-%ce%ba%ce%b1%ce%bb%cf%8d%cf%84%ce%b5%cf%81%ce%bf-%ce%b4%cf%8e%cf%81%ce%bf-%ce%b3%ce%b9%ce%b1-%cf%84%ce%b9%cf%82-%ce%b1%cf%81%ce%b8\/\">swimming<\/a>, tennis, volleyball, handball, and similar sports.<\/li>\n<li>Poor technique during sports activities<\/li>\n<li>Poor posture<\/li>\n<li>Weakness of the rotator cuff muscles<\/li>\n<li>Degenerative changes<\/li>\n<li>Anatomical variations<\/li>\n<li>Age, typically over 60 years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Symptoms of Shoulder Impingement Syndrome<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The most commonly reported symptoms among patients with shoulder impingement syndrome include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pain located at the anterior or lateral aspect of the shoulder. Clinical assessment includes specific orthopedic tests such as the Neer test and the Hawkins test, while imaging modalities such as ultrasound, X-ray, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are recommended to achieve comprehensive visualization and assessment of the condition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Management of Shoulder Impingement Syndrome<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shoulder impingement syndrome can be managed either conservatively or surgically.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rest and avoidance of activities that aggravate the symptoms<\/li>\n<li>Pharmacological therapy with anti-inflammatory medications<\/li>\n<li>Cryotherapy<\/li>\n<li>Physiotherapy program focused on stretching and strengthening<\/li>\n<li>Corticosteroid injections to reduce inflammation and pain<\/li>\n<li>Postural correction to alleviate mechanical stress on the shoulder joint<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If conservative treatment fails to provide adequate symptom relief, surgical intervention may be considered. The preferred surgical approach is arthroscopic subacromial decompression, during which the surgeon inserts a small camera through minimal skin incisions to visualize the joint. The procedure allows for smoothing of the acromion and, when necessary, repair of torn tendons.Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive technique that generally does not require hospitalization and is
